While I appreciate what the author was attempting to do here with the theme of grace, as much as I tried, I could not get into this book. First, I disliked the romantic hero. We met him in the second book of the series, where he was portrayed as a perpetual student mooching off his lawyer brother instead of settling down and supporting himself as commanded in 2 Thess. 3:12. So right out of the box, I had a prejudice against him. As "The Way of Grace" develops, the author tries to justify Matt: He's working on his doctorate; he writes songs; he goes on the road with some band; he volunteers at a charity, helping kids. But the bottom line is, he's still sponging off his brother. And he's so ridiculously judgmental. It drove me crazy how he's always assessing Grace, as if he can know what only God knows about her. Grace tells him outright, "Oh, no, here it comes. You're about to launch into one of your diatribes about my shortcomings and then try to fix me, aren't you?" Seriously, who wants a relationship with someone who's always trying to "fix" them? And Matt just as readily sizes up Jason, his romantic rival, as if he knows so much about him. Obviously, if a guy looks like he has it altogether, he's gotta be some kind of control freak, right?
What really angered me, though, was when Matt's older brother, who was so nice in the first two books, does something completely out of character and jumps to conclusions without listening to Grace's full story. And then the whole town follows suit and turns against Grace, just as they so heartlessly turned against Dani in "Texas Roads." I expected as much from Trish, she was such a jerk to Dani, but I didn't expect it of Andy. Once again Miller's Creek proves itself a town of hypocritical pseudo-religious gossips, going to church but not living in Christian love. I couldn't finish the book, which is a shame because I really did like what the author was going for here and I wanted to see it played out. I just hated the characters too much to suffer through it.

Graciela Soldana is on the cusp of everything she dreamed of; she passed the bar, has a job as a lawyer, and soon she'll find the perfect man to complete her list. It took hard work and the support of friends from her hometown of Millers Creek, and she's ready to make them proud.
Matt Tyler has been in love with Gracie Mae for years but he's not part of her perfect plan. He's always had a passion for God, and for serving others. His degrees in psychology will help him with one and his love of music and writing songs with the other. His carefree lifestyle isn't as carefree as some would believe and it doesn't match Gracie's plan for her future.
Grace walks away from her job as a defense attorney to fulfill her dream of being a prosecutor. Something feels wrong from the start but she's going to make it work for everyone's sake. Things go from weird to terrifying in short order and Gracie starts to wonder if she's in over her head.
As if things weren't difficult professionally, personally she's torn between Matt, who understands her as no one else does, and Jason, who ticks off every box on her wish list.
Grace struggles with God's grace in this novel, much as we do in our own lives. Is striving to be perfect pleasing to God? What happens when you do mess up? And what is perfect, anyway?
Gracie has now gone through college and is a defense attorney living at home with her father. When she was young she dated the brother (Matt) of her boss at the law firm where she is employed as a defense attorney although she has always wanted to be a prosecuting attorney. Feeling there is something very wrong at the firm, she leaves her job, finds employment as a prosecutor and finds herself in a lot of trouble. Matt has returned to Miller Creek following college. He is and has always been very much in love with Grace - but does Grace have feelings for Matt. I did find several errors which interrupted the flow of the story and had to re-read sentences so that they made sense. Because I thoroughly enjoyed the plot I did overlook these these. I so wanted to give a rating of five but could not due to the errors.
`The Way of Grace` is the third novel in the Miller's Creek series written by author Cathy Bryant. The female protagonist, Grace, is an attorney who wants nothing more than to see the bad guys behind bars. Elena is an attorney with money in abundance.
Grace wanted to stay on Elena's good side since Elena was her mentor. Under the tutelage of Elena Grace hoped to be the next great attorney. However, was Grace caught in something bigger than herself? Something potentially dangerous? If you let someone get away with wrong behavior is that showing mercy? Elena had something to hide, but what? Why did she want to discredit Grace? Would Grace ever be able to work as an attorney again?
After two years of waiting, Matt was still in love with Grace, but Grace wasn't sure she loved him back.
The enemy likes to cause discord and strife among God's people, he is the enemy of our soul. But, Christ is the ultimate advocate for those who belong to Him. (see page 302-). Chapter five gives the best analogy of salvation I have ever heard.
I recommend this book to fans of mystery and suspense.
