Fangless Nicu The Littlest Vampire Book 1 edition by Elias Zapple Reimarie Cabalu Children eBooks Reviews
Poor Nicu a fangless vampire who has to drink bottles of cow’s blood. But what a great concept to teach kids about dealing with bullies. Nicu - The Littlest Vampire In 'Fangless' (The Story of a Young Vampire Standing Up to Bullies) by Elias Zapple is wonderfully creative. The illustrations by Reimarie Cabalu are a perfect fit for the story. Great details, the kids play on the playground at 1 a.m., the fang-ferry, a crazy doctor and a great vomit scene. This book is really well done and I can’t wait to get more from this author. Highly recommended, five stars.
Nicu - The Littlest Vampire In 'Fangless' (Nicu - The Littlest Vampire Series Book 1) is a very fun and exciting children book. The kids love it, and I enjoyed reading it to them. Joshua could identify with Nicu, as he too is often bullied and is always trying to figure out how to be braver and stand up for himself. Elias Zapple books are not just entertaining but kids find something in them, that little hopeful spark of inspiration that gives them both courage and happiness and helps develop their imagination. Zapple books are some of the leading bestsellers on and I think every parent should check him out. Turn off Cartoon Network and Nickleodeon, turn off Adventure time and check Zapple out on .
I adored Nicu - The Littlest Vampire In 'Fangless'. Elias Zapple's inspired humor is always drill and delicious, but this book struck me lovesick. Nicu, the Littlest Vampire, is firmly lodged in my heart.
So, you're thinking there can't be a humorous, lovable tale for kids (of all ages) about a vampire? Think again. Buy this book and "Nicu - The Littlest Vampire In 'Fangless' will prove you wrong, resuscitate your inner child, and have yougrabbing this book from your own children to take it to bed with you.
Fangless is a perfect gift any child or anyone who can -- or wants to -- remember how excited you were as a child when you opened to the first page of a new book a new book.
I wish I had ten stars to give Fangless, but all I can do is give it five REALLY BIG ones.
So buy Fangless and read it to any kid you can find -- borrow a kid, or even steal one for a few hours, or simply buy it for yourself.
A great little children’s book, with awesome black-and-white illustrations that reflect the spooky-yet-humorous nature of the story. It opens in a story-telling tone, that is none-the-less direct, just as if you were telling this captivating tale to a wide-eyed child “This was no ordinary house like you or I live in. This was a dark, crooked and grim-looking house, with grime, dust and cobwebs all over it, and indeed, in it…This house was occupied by a family of vampires, and every night these vampires would turn into bats and fly out of the windows in search of humans, so that they could drink the human’s blood…”
The book is about growing up and belonging to your family, with all its traits. Nicu is a little vampire, whose fangs haven't grown in yet, which makes his family tease him as if he did not quite belong. The crowning moment, thanks perhaps to the fangs fairy, happens when his father announces, “You have a fine set of fangs! We shall never deny that you are our son again!”
Five stars.
Children who are being teased for being "different" will enjoy this story about 9-year-old Nicu who's fangs have not grown in yet. Nicu is bullied by everyone including his parents, brother, friends and school mates. He is advised by the Fang Fairy to ignore the bullies for they will lose interest in teasing him if he no longer allows them to see that they've upset him. Read this book with your kids to find out what Nicu does once his fangs grow in.
This is a great book to share with children to help them understand that they hurt people's feelings if they say or do mean things. And another 'fang' if your child is the one being bullied, this book may help them to understand that the more emotion they display as a result of the bullies' actions, the more power the bully is given.
This book is for grade levels 3 to 6.
I've read a few of Mr Zapples stories now. He reminds me of Edward Lear or Spike Milligan. I especially like the way he incorporates asides into the story, pausing to chat with the reader in a cosy tone. It underscores that we are in a work of fiction and not to take it too seriously.
In this absurdist take on vampire culture we meet a little vampire mocked for not having his fangs. Spend a day with someone who lives in an odd and fangtastical world who isn't their sort of normal. There's a possible lesson in there about the fickleness of family and friends but you can just enjoy the story as I did.
Nicu is a little vampire with a big problem. His fangs haven't grown in yet. And everybody, including his vampire family, picks on him for it. Poor Nicu! He has to go find a special kind of tooth fairy to solve his problems. But what if he doesn't get home before dawn? You'll have to read and find out!
I was enthralled with this book from beginning to end. It has many funny moments, but also brings up the very serious issues of bullying and child abuse and can spark an important conversation. You'll fall in love with the main character Nicu who is, despite what his friends and family say about him, very lovable!
I highly recommend this book!!
